On July 2, 2025, Fortune China announced its annual Most Powerful Women in Business (MPW) rankings, recognizing women who exemplify exceptional leadership and innovation. Gong Chenyu, Senior Vice President, CFO, and CHRO of LEAD Intelligent Equipment (LEAD), was named to the 2025 “Emerging Leaders” list in recognition of her transformative impact on financial digitalization and global strategy.
Launched in 2010, the MPW list honors the wisdom, resilience, and determination of China’s most influential female leaders. It features two categories: the core list, spotlighting the most powerful women across major industries, and the “Emerging Leaders” list, which recognizes rising stars—entrepreneurs, executives, and thought leaders who are redefining the business landscape.
Gong’s recognition is not only a testament to her professional achievements, but also a signal that women leaders in the new energy equipment sector are stepping into the spotlight, bringing both technical expertise and strategic vision to reshape the industry.
Gong holds a Master’s degree in Financial Engineering from Princeton University and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Economics from UCLA. Before joining LEAD, she built extensive expertise in capital markets through roles at leading Wall Street investment banks and cross-border asset management firms. As the global energy transition accelerates, driven by technological innovation and carbon-neutrality goals, the new energy industry is undergoing profound transformation. At LEAD, Gong has leveraged this momentum to redefine traditional finance functions through digital innovation. She led the company’s enterprise-wide financial digitalization initiative, establishing a strong foundation for the seamless integration of operations and finance across the organization.
Launched in 2023, the project positioned finance as the core of LEAD’s digital operations strategy. By implementing a fully integrated business-finance system and end-to-end project lifecycle financial management, it enabled intelligent, automated operations. The initiative also introduced precision accounting and a performance-driven management framework, providing real-time operational insights and strengthening the company’s strategic planning and decision-making. Today, it stands as a key driver of LEAD’s pursuit of high-quality growth.
As the global market leader in new energy equipment for consecutive years, LEAD has accelerated its international expansion under Gong’s strategic guidance. In 2024, the company generated RMB 2.83 billion in overseas revenue, a 26.31% year-on-year increase, with international business accounting for 23.88% of total revenue. Over the same period, gross margin rose to 39.32%. Leveraging its dual strengths in technological innovation and global deployment, LEAD has been featured on several prestigious rankings, including the Top 500 Chinese Private Manufacturing Enterprises by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Fortune China’s Top 50 Most Influential Tech Companies, and Forbes China’s Top 30 Global Brands Going Abroad. The company has also received honors such as National Demonstration Enterprise for Technological Innovation, National Enterprise Technology Center, China Industrial Awards Commendation Prize, First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress in China’s Machinery Industry, and the Governor’s Quality Award of Jiangsu Province.
Commenting on her inclusion in the MPW list, Gong said:
“It is a great honor to be recognized alongside so many female leaders who are driving transformative change in business. In the fast-evolving new energy equipment sector, the resilience and insight of women leaders are becoming a vital force for innovation. I look forward to working with more women in our field to seize the vast opportunities of the carbon-neutral era and to reach new heights in China’s smart manufacturing journey.”
